My first year at Via Colori, street art festival benefitting the Center for Speech and Hearing in Houston. Wonderful festival with lots of really good artists creating colorful chalk drawings on the city streets. Live music, food & fun. Robin was unable to shake loose from a prior commitment, so I was joined this time by my dear sister, Wendy, who acted as my able assistant. For this event, I created four pieces with a loose Houston theme. First, Four Houston Blues musicians, Albert Collins, Lightnin' Hopkins, Big Mama Thorton and Clarence "Gate Mouth" Brown. Then a piece depicting hands signing "love" to honor the Center for Speech and hearing. Next, Tom Hanks in Apolo 13 "Houston, We Have A Problem." Finally a Caddo Indian. The Caddoans originally lived in the Houston area. Wendy and I had a great time, and were well-treated by the Via Colori staff and the good folks from MINI and BSSP.
